Today we are going to have a look at how a dichotomous key works. Go to the dichotomous key for bugs website, and then we are going to work through one from our book on page 26. Here is a copy of the worksheet.
Here are two quizlets to help you review for our quiz tomorrow.
Chapter 1 Review #1 Chapter 1 Review #2 - contains a few terms that we did not cover in class. Here are the answers to the Chapter 1 review sheet. We will be having a quiz for Chapter 1 on Wednesday, October 12. The review sheet has been posted in the notes and worksheets section of my website. The students will get a copy next class. Students were asked to do questions 1-6 on page 23 for homework this evening. If students did not bring their text home with them, it is available online. Instructions can be found in the notes and worksheets section of this website.
Our first major unit will be on Ecosystems. At the moment, we are working on our first lab - Macdonald Drive Backyard Ecosystem. For the first part, we went out to the school yard during class on Monday. We will finish it and pass it in during the next class. I have put the notes for Chapter 1 in the Notes and Worksheets section of this web site.
And welcome to my blog! This is my science page for 7-1 at MDJH.
Students have been asked to make sure they come to class prepared with something to write with and have a binder or a duotang that they can put their handouts in. A few sheets of looseleaf would not go astray either. Since class started, we have been working on Lab Safety. Here is the set of workbooklet about Lab Safety that I gave out in class... they can also be found in the GRADE 7 NOTES AND WORKSHEETS section of this web site. Today we worked on the "What not to do lab" which can be found in the workbooklet. If students did not get it finished in class, they are required to finish it for homework. |
